Day 01: Tue 20 Mar.07        MUMBAI-UDAIPUR

Upon arrival in Mumbai at 11.40 am by BA 199, you will be welcomed and transferred to Hotel Kohinoor Continental (A tourist hotel 3-4*). Afternoon connect with flt # 9W 3405 MUMBAI-UDAIPUR 17:10/18:55. O/N Jagat Niwas Palace.

Day 02: Wed 21 Mar.07         Udaipur

Morning after a half day city sightseeing, attend the MEWAR FESTIVAL. O/N Jagat Niwas Palace (A heritage/classic style lodge overlooking Lake Pinchola with al frescoes dining).

The Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur in Udaipur, and has a unique charm about it. The women folk gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city. The procession winds its way to the Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichhola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats amidst much singing and festivity.

The festival of Gangaur is very significant for women of Rajasthan. It is a time for them to dress up in their best clothes and participate in the festival. 


Activities
They gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city. The procession winds its way to the Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichhola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats amidst much singing and festivity. 
Once the religious part of the festival is over, it is time for cultural events where Rajasthani culture is portrayed through songs, dances and other programmes. The festival culminates with an impressive fireworks display. Like other fairs and festivals celebrated throughout the state, there is a lot of activity, which keeps the participants in a joyful frame of mind, eager to enjoy every moment. 

History
Udaipur is the jewel of Mewar kingdom ruled by the Sisodia dynasty for 1200 Years. The foundation of the city has an interesting legend associated with it. According to it, Maharana Udai Singh, the founder, was hunting one day when he met a holy man meditations on a hill overlooking the Lake Pichhola.The hermit blessed the Maharana and advised him to build a palace at this favorable located spot with a fertile valley watered by the stream, a lake, an agreeable altitude and an amphitheater of low mountains. Maharana followed the advise of the hermit and founded the city in 1559 A.D.

 

Day 02: Wed 21 Mar.07         Udaipur

Day03: Thu 22 Mar.07    Udaipur-Korta Escape

Morning after breakfast drive to Korta   (160km/3½hrs). On arrival get acquainted with our Marwari horses by riding in out door arena for about 30 to 45 min or as you feel comfortable. We ride out through village tracks and fields. Terrain changes dramatically, from fields to plains to desert and to lush green farms.  Lunch Outdoors   and return to Korta Escape for O/N Horse trek Korta (A country estate and lodge with cottages).

 

Day04: Fri 23 Mar.07 Korta- Korta. Riding Distance 22km.

 After breakfast, we set on a fun ride around 10 o’clock. Riding through dry river bed towards the historic temple of mother goddess. Passing through small villages and open fields we reach Aalpa (village at the base of temple). On reaching to the temple, we serve freshly cooked mixed cuisine lunch. After relaxing and enjoying the view, we start riding back. Riding through fields and passing through small villages of tribes, we reach back to Korta. O/N

 

Day05: Sat 24 Mar.07 Korta –Korta. Riding distance 26km.

After breakfast at 9.00 AM mount on the horses and leave towards Southwest crossing the shepherd houses and village in the open countryside and beautiful land scope. We stop at warrior’s shrine to have our lunch, which is freshly prepared to adjust the taste of our guests. After resting a while we mount and ride through semi arid land and tribal villages we reach Korta escape. O/N

 

Day06: Sun 25 Mar.07 Korta–Korta Pass. Riding distance 30km.

After breakfast we ride with the sun, galloping through the fields and village tracks, passing close to Aravali ranges we reach our lunch spot. After a little break we start our adventure on horseback passing through small villages of Devasi tribe. As we catch up with sunset, we reach Korta escape. O/N

 

 

Day07: Mon 26 Mar.07 Korta– Medahills. Riding distance 22km.

After breakfast we ride to explore the rich cultural heritage of India. Enroute stop in a dhani to interact with the locals to observe their daily routine closely. As we ride through fields and plains we reach our chosen lunch spot. Here we rest for a while and then set on trail again. We move towards semi scrubland and crossing the vast open area we reach our destination Korta escape. O/N

 

Day08: Tue 27 Mar.07 Korta- Jawai Dam. Riding distance 30km.

We have our breakfast with sun rise and set on to trail for our last day adventure on horseback. We ride through the village of snake charmer. Here we stop to interact with them to know more about their lifestyle. Then we ride through dry riverbed and reach our lunch spot at Jawai Dam. After lunch we ride through village tracks and some villages, we reach Korta escape. Where our staff and attendants await to comfort our guests. Farewell evening followed by cocktails, barbeque and dinner. Here we sit around bonfire and recall our memorable experiences. O/N

 

 

 

 

Day 09:  Wed 28 Mar.07        Korta-Jodhpur-Jaipur

Early morning drive to Jodhpur (3½hrs). Later full day City sightseeing, incl Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada. O/N Devi Bhawan (A heritage hotel of approx 3*).

 

At a short distance of 11 kms . from Jaipur, the Amer Fort complex stands amidst wooded hills overlooking the Delhi-Jaipur highway, with its forbidding ramparts reflected in the still waters of the Maota Lake below. One of the finest examples of Rajput architecture, it was the ancient capital of the Kachhawah rulers. The original palace was built by Raja Man Singh and additions were made later by Sawai Jai Singh. 

Within the palace are the Diwan-e-Aam or the "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas or the "Hall of Private Audience" and the Sukh Niws where a cool breeze blows across channels of water for the purpose of air-conditioning. Here are the private chambers of the queens with windows having latticed screens so that the ladies could watch the proceedings of the royal court inprivacy. There is also the Jai Mandir or the "Temple of Vicotry", with its famed Sheesh Mahal, the scintillating "Hall of Mirrors"

 

 

 

Day 10: Thu 29 Mar.07     Jaipur

Morning by train #2466 JODHPUR-JAIPUR 05.45/10.43…  City S/S. to incl Amer Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds). O/N Alsisar Haveli (A heritage hotel of approx 3*).

 

 

 

 

Day 11:Fri 30 Mar.07   Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur

Early  morning drive to Ranthambore National Park (180km/4hrs). Later full day Game Viewing by 4X4 WD. O/N Khemvillas Camp (A Unique jungle fixed camp with aesthetic thatch cottages).

 

 

Day 12:Sat 31 Mar.07

Another day at Ranthambore. Full day Jungle Safari for tiger spotting. Enjoy photography. O/N Khemvillas Camp.

 

Day 13:Sun 01 April.07   Ranthambore-Agra

Early morning drive to Agra, the City of Taj (294km/6hrs). Evening See the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. O/N Taj View Hotel (A 4-5* Tourist Hotel).

 

Day 14:Mon 02 April.07      Agra-Delhi

Early morning again visit the Taj Mahal to witness the Sunrise view of the Monument... Then drive to Delhi (203km/4½hrs), visiting Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb to connect with Intl Flt for your return journey.
