The Equestrian Centre remains open all year round
and currently operates all of its Cross-Country Rides and Hacks only

on the Caledon road. The Castle will remain open as usual.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank
you all for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you all
back when were bigger and better and we promise to keep all the

Castle Leslie Estate, set on 1,000 acres of magnificent scenery
including woodlands, lakes and rivers boasts up to 150 cross-country
jumps suitable for all levels making it the ultimate Equestrian
Playground. Started in 1974 by Desmond
Leslie, Castle Leslie was always the fore runner in equestrian holidays
in Ireland. Some thirty years on, the stage is set to become the best
worldwide with the restoration and regeneration of the old Hunting
Lodge, stables and cross country course to the tune of over 10 Million
Euros.
Spring 2007 sees the opening of the renovated
Hunting Lodge with 35 bedrooms set in the heart of the state-of-the-art
Equestrian Centre. Five new court yards tucked in behind the Lodge make
up the stabling, home to 55 horses and ponies, or as some may rather
say, handsome hunters, charming cobs, cheeky ponies and flying
armchairs. The facilities include:
- 50 x 30 metre indoor arena with tiered
seating for 200 people
- 20 x 40 metre outdoor arena
- The Virtual Horse - Ireland’s first fully
sized simulated horse
- 300 new cross country jumps built by Willis
Bros. (Badminton Horse Trials)
- 21 miles of bridleways to trek and absorb the
beautiful scenery
- Mile long all-weather gallop
- Side-saddle lessons
- Carriage driving on the Estate

Scattered across the lands the 300 new cross country
jumps built by the Willis Bros. of Badminton Horse Trials fame, are a
test to all levels of skill and nerves. Add on the natural logs and
ditches already here and the jumps now range from the knee-high to the
knee-tremblers! Little log piles, tiny tiger traps, easy parallels, baby
ditches and simple splashes build up to a set of steps in the quarry,
trakeners, zig zags, drops, arrow heads, bounces and drops into the
lake. It is all about you, the rider and what you would like. And should
you part company with your mount in the lake, it’s ‘drinks on you’ for
all the group at the bar that evening. So whether you are just beginning,
are inherently lazy, or raring to go, the Castle Leslie Equestrian
Centre has something to suit. Why not combine riding with relaxing spa
treatments (‘Equi-Sensual’) or spend time in the apron with our cookery
school courses (‘Equi-Chef’). |
